How the index is built: components, weights, baseline and revision policy

January 2026 at a glance

  • The Productiv Labor & Logistics Pressure Index read 115.7 in January 2026, -3.6 points from the prior month and -2.8 from a year earlier. Labor 114.2, Freight 97.9, Capital & Inputs 131.8.
  • Transportation and warehousing average hourly earnings were up 3.9% from a year earlier, against CPI inflation of 2.4% (BLS).
  • Diesel averaged $3.52/gal, down 3.1% from a year earlier (EIA), and long-distance truckload producer prices were down 0.2% (BLS).
  • Producer prices for final demand were up 3.0% year over year (BLS), and the 10-year Treasury averaged 4.21% (Federal Reserve).
